Camping Trip

A couple of months ago I had the GREAT idea that our family should go car camping. Brian and I used to backpack, but now that we have the twins, this is just not possible anymore. So I thought car camping would be a good way to get outside and have fun with the family. My sister and Lindsey came along (no Russ - he's in Qatar) as well as my parents who were kind enough to make all of our meals (THANKS SO MUCH!)

We went to Redstone which is past Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. We did have fun, but it was a lot of work and I wasn't prepared (mentally) for the temperature extremes. It was 85+ during the day and 45 at night. Temperature extremes with babies makes things a lot harder. Did I mention that I love heating and air conditioning? Thanks to my family for supporting me in all my crazy ideas!

Biter Biscuits

This was the first time we gave the babies Biter Biscuits and needless to say, they got a bath afterward.

LOVE the Biter Biscuit hairspray!

What a mess! ...but sooo good!

Nick's First Haircut

Brian has been talking about cutting Nick's hair since he was 3 days old (okay...maybe a slight exaggeration) and I have been adamantly against it. I finally let him do it last Saturday. It was a rainy day and I think Brian was getting bored. I asked if we could take him somewhere or let my mom do it, but he talked me into doing it right them.

The before picture...I miss the cute baby hair

Snip, snip, snip...Nick was actually really good and didn't seem to mind too much.

The after picture. He looks like a grown-up boy:(

Alli got a few of her bangs snipped while we were in the hair-cutting process.

Bubbles, Bubbles

We love our bubble baths...to quote from one of our favorite books Bubbles, Bubbles

Bubbles, bubbles on my nose
Bubbles, bubbles on my toes
Bubbles, bubbles in my hair
Bubbles, bubbles everywhere!

Swimming Party

A couple of years ago I bought Gracie (our yellow lab) a kiddie swimming pool since she loves getting wet. I've wanted to get it out for the kids all summer since they always have fun in their bath. I decided that we should have a swimming party, so we invited Lindsey to come over and swim too.

Not as fast as Michael Phelps, but sooo cute!

Getting Started...Catching Up

I've also decided to join the "blogolution" with only a little peer pressure from my sister!

Our family is doing great. Nick and Alli are almost 9 months old. They are crawling everywhere and pulling themselves up onto everything. It is amazing to me how different their little personalities are already. Nick is such a little man. He grunts, flexes, farts, and pushes anything with wheels (and some things without wheels) around with him everywhere. Alli is our sweet little girl. She has such an even-tempered disposition. She is teething right now and I didn't even realize it because she is almost always so happy. She has been saying dadada a lot and has started "singing". She has a very interesting crawling style. She pulls herself around on her tummy. It almost looks like she is swimming (which she LOVES). I could go on forever about these babies (what mother couldn't). They are so fun and such a blessing. There are many crazy days, but it is so worth it.

What else...My sister and Russ moved 1 mile away from us (we live in Thornton, CO) in March and had a baby girl named Lindsey on April 2nd. It has been so fun (and helpful) having them live close. My parents also live close, about 10 miles away. I am working part-time at URS Washington Division (formerly Washington Group Intl.) as a process engineer in the Oil and Gas group. I love my time at home, but I also like getting a "break" a couple days a week. Yes - it's true - being a SAHM is much harder than having an office job (for all you dads out there!) Speaking of dads, Brian is an awesome dad. He loves his babies and they love him. He took last week off of work and we spent a week going to the zoo, going swimming, and doing family stuff. That's us...I'll try to keep this updated, so check back often.
