Baby Steps

This is what Makenna has been practicing a lot lately... I'm so proud and sad at the same time.

The Zoo in January

Today was one of the nicer days of the week and Brian had to work this morning, so why not get out of the house and head to the zoo for a couple hours? It was chilly, but felt good to be outside. Courtney even saw someone putting on sunscreen in the parking lot (seriously). Add another 40 or 50 degrees and it could have been July.

Not all of the animals were out but we still got to see most of the animals and ride the carousel. We also were accosted by a very friendly/starving peacock (way too starving/scary for Alli and Lindsey's liking; yes, there were tears) during snacktime. We made it out alive and Alli has only told me the peacock story about 10 times since we've been home.

Playing in the Snow

For the first time this winter Nick and Alli got to play in the snow! They loved it. I think it took almost as long to bundle them up as they actually played in the snow, though. And as soon as they came in they wanted "hot chocit"; I can't blame them. Its been a pretty light winter for snow and cold so far, but you wouldn't have known it this week. Brrrr!

Poor Makenna, stuck inside watching. Notice that she's holding her favorite toy? It's a plastic skrewdriver from Nick's Handy Manny laptop. She carries it around with her all day!

We got a flip cam for Christmas. Here are a couple of our favorite videos so far:

Makenna just started taking her first steps. Hopefully I'll catch a video soon!

Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. David and Natalie came to visit from San Francisco and we all stayed together for a couple of nights at my grandparent's house. It was fun to spend time together - watching movies, playing games, eating, visiting, and playing with kids.

Kershaw family tradition is that the kids get to open a present on Christmas Eve. This year we stretched it to two presents - pajamas and a book (all matching, see below) and an ornament. My grandma Kershaw started the ornament tradition with her grandkids and my mom has kept it going with her grandkids.
Alli hiding a present. Her favorite presents this year were her new dress-ups (Snow White and Tinkerbell), purse and accessories, and kitchen tools.

Boo-boo. She was a mama's girl on this trip (like she is most of the time). It probably didn't help that she just got two new teeth!
Makenna is happier here, probably because she is naked, which is her favorite thing. We have a picture just like this of me on my first Christmas.
Nick's favorite presents this year were his Mack truck, car transporter, skidder, and racetrack (see a common theme?).

While Brian had time off we also enjoyed zoo lights, swimming, an adult dinner out with my family, and 3 trips to the movie theater. I'm sad that he's going back to work tomorrow!
